Dear readers,
as I'm a big fan of Clarks Desert Boots, I took a closer look at Clarks booth on last year's GDS (shoe fair) in Düsseldorf.
What I saw was close to shoe heaven:
A collaboration between Clarks & Harris Tweed (two of Britain’s oldest heritage brands), resulting in a new limited collection of men’s and women’s shoes.
The new collection
consists of men’s boots, Originals Desert
Boots and women’s shoes aswell.
Facts about Harris Tweed (in case you do not know about it):
"All the material has been handwoven by the islanders at their homes
in the Outer Hebrides and finished there too. It’s also made from pure
virgin wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides.
Low-impact production and reliance on natural materials throughout
the Clarks & Harris Tweed collection also makes it truly
ecologically sound with the material even being woven on a treadle
powered loom without the aid of automation or electricity. Weaver’s
skills take months to learn and years to master and every step of the
Harris Tweed process is in the hands of skilled islanders, from dying to
delivery." (from edgemagazine).
Here's one remarkable boot: The Montacute Lord
