Store check: Moda Italiana

In the middle of Rethelstraße I found a real treasure: Gianfranco Arcangeli, owner of Moda Italiana, offers a large choice of italian made fashion.

Look at those laced beauties! Handcrafted in tuscan city Firenze by the cousin of the owner in a more than 150 years of family tradition, these shoes come with a quality that made in particular my dreams of suede come true.

Besides shoes, the store offers suits, dress shirts, neckties and tuscan food like olive oil and wine.

On the street - Commercial shoot on Kö

Funny coincidence. When I called my buddy Chotschen during lunch break, assuming that he was already in Paris, he told me he was shooting a commercial on Kö. So I brought my camera.
Over time we noticed another familiar face. Seemed like we had a big Millhome reunion at D-Town.

Today's scent

A little cloudy today in good olde Düsseldorf. I hope I'll manage to do some fine shots 'cause that's what this blog is all about.

In the meantime I'll tell you my today's fragrance:

As I will have a business meeting later the day I wear an adequate scent:
Terre d'Hermès

Here are the notes:

Top notes:
Orange, Grapefruit

Middle notes:
Pepper, Pelargonium

Base notes:
Patchouli, Cedar, Vetiver, Benzoin

Have a nice day!

I like this scent pretty much, especially my wife!

How to shave

My Sunday started with a shower and a close shave.

I learned that the average man will shave about 20,000 times in his life. Seems like a hell of a lot. To avoid pain, here’s how to do it right:

Prepare:
First and most important point: The hairs of your beard need to be soft. Best way to achieve that is to shave directly after you hit the shower. Otherwise, hold a damp, steaming towel against your face for a few minutes. This will have the same effect and will relax your skin.

Shaving cream:
Apply cream from a tube on your wet face with a badger-hair shaving brush. Whip the cream with hot water into a rich lather. Shaving mugs will do best.

Shave:
You’ll need a sharp blade. And I mean sharp. First, draw the razor with the grain of the hair, then re-lather and make a return stroke against the grain. As the first stroke will remove about 90 percent of the hair, the second stroke will do the rest. Never use too much pressure. The blade will do the job. And it doesn’t really matter if the razor has 3, 4 or 5 blades. It needs to be sharp!

Protection:
When you finished the shaving, take a towel and rub the remaining foam off your face. This has the same effect as a peeling and will help your skin recover.
Then rinse your face with cold water, to close the pores of your skin. Then dry your face with a towel. After that, apply a non-alcohol-based post shave balm.

Result:
I use this technique for many years and never had some skin irritation or razor burns or whatever. Maybe it will work for you too?
