Waldfest Tegernseer Gebirgsschützen

Dear readers,

if you're not from Germany, the first thing that comes into your mind thinking about Germany surely is Lederhosen. You'll find them in Bavaria, my second destination this summer.

In the lovely village of Tegernsee (located at lake Tegernsee) it's no big deal to see people wearing traditional costume, called Tracht, because Bavarians commonly emphasize pride in their traditions. I also got a Tracht, but that's a different story.

The complete Tracht is worn on special occasions, like the Waldfest of Tegernseer Gebirgsschützen.

Here are a few impressions.

  1. Excellent. I love these scenes, truly. Where are the sausages?! When I was very young, one of my northern German relatives gave me a pair of Lederhosen. I've had a soft spot for shorts and stout boots ever since.

  2. @LSS: Thx!

@LBF: Indeed. In the Alps, everday life seems to be so much closer to nature. Like staghorn buttons on jackets, Lederhosen and stuff. You have to spend your next holidays in Bavaria.

Your nothern relatives and Lederhosen? Might be worth a post?!
